- 33 layers of steel: Center layer is hard Swedish steel. On top of this are 32 alternating layers of low and high carbon VG-10 stainless steel (which contains cobalt)
- Blade edge: HRC58 on the Rockwell scale of hardness
- Compressed, laminated wooden handle with full tang
Created with the same process of layered steel developed from the art of Japanese sword making, the blades extremely sharp, long lasting and durable. VG10 is a “super steel” containing cobalt. The alternating layers of hard and soft steel make UN-RYU knives both strong and flexible.
The quality of the craftsmanship can be seen in the Damascus pattern (lines on the blade).
Blades are hand sharpened for a very sharp edge that will last a long time.
